Recognizing Excellence at MJCC

Supporting Quality Care

At Moose Jaw Cardiac & Medical Centre, we take pride in recognizing individuals who go above and beyond in supporting our missions to deliver exceptional cardiac are.

This spotlight highlights the outstanding contributions of Mahmud Tarhuni, whose initiative and attention to detail in Clinical Operations Support have helped streamline workflows and improve the patient experience.

About the Recognition of Excellence Award:

Granted annually to one staff member who has demonstrated exceptional initiative this distinguished award acknowledges forward-thinking innovation and a measurable impact on patient care and system performance. It is one of the highest forms of internal recognition available within MJCC and is designed to celebrate employees whose contributions extend beyond their standard job responsibilities to drive meaningful, system-level improvements in healthcare delivery.

Candidates for the award are nominated by their direct supervisors, who must provide detailed evidence of the nominee’s achievements, including documentation of sustained performance, innovation and outcomes. These nominations undergo a rigorous review process led by the centre’s senior leadership team.

Unlike routine performance recognitions, this award specifically honours those who take initiative to create scalable improvements.

Recipients of this award are regarded as change agents and role models within MJCC. Their work often informs best practices, training modules, and policy enhancements across departments.

Evaluation Criteria Includes:

• Operational excellence, such as improved efficiency in workflows, process redesign or successful implementation of new tools or procedures.

• Collaborative leadership, including the ability to work cross-functionally with clinical, administrative and technical teams to deliver results.

• Direct and measurable patient care impact, such as reducing wait times, increasing service availability (particularly in our local underserved rural populations) and improving patient satisfaction or outcomes

• System-level innovation, meaning contributions that influence broader organizational practices, rather than improvements limited to a single task or role.
